The need for computer security systems is becoming ever greater in the modern world. As a society, we are more mobile than ever. Increasing globalization means that no matter where we are in the world, we will have the need to contact others in different corners of the globe. Consequently, more of us than ever are traveling with laptop computers. Even for those who are generally tied to an office, the computer has become almost an extension of the self. Theft of an office computer would be at best an inconvenience and at worst deadly to the company. Computer security systems are essential for many reasons.

If we were to take a conversation about security, such as this one, and place in the context of a social setting twenty years ago, people would have thought that you were crazy. The issue of security awareness in our society has, by necessity , reached a higher level than ever. Everything from credit card fraud to computer spyware has consumers wondering what they need to do to protect themselves. While much of the worry is well founded the truth about what we need to do protect our assets can be a little cloudy. It’s hard to differentiate between rumor and fact and most of us aren’t technologically proficient enough to really understand how computer firewalls work or what they do for us.

Surfing the Internet nowadays can be very dangerous. With all the viruses, spywares, adwares, identity thieves and hackers circulating for surfers to victimize, opening and downloading an attachment sent by your friend can be very scary.
